Has anyone's ever had one removed?

I had an excruciatingly painful one about 4 years ago that burst after lots of hot baths etc.

I have had one since March time that hasn't hurt, but I was aware of it being quite large. Antibiotics haven't shrunk it so gp thinks I should have it removed.

Has anyone had this?

I have had a couple of these - they are v painful. The first one I had (around 15 years ago) was excruciating and I had no idea what it was. Ended up going off to A&E as I was in so much pain. They kept me in and removed it. If I remember it's more a case of draining the fluid out. The second time I got one I knew exactly what it was so got to the doctors before it got too big. Thankfully antibiotics did the trick and it disappeared. I have real sympathy for you - not pleasant at all.
