Looked this up on google and was directed by link to the Apple App Store. Sure enough it is there but the “get” sign is greyed out.
A friend found somewhere on the net this morning and she got as far as a password when something came up to say it wasn’t available at the moment. Anyone else had similar trouble? Or any suggestions?

Doesn't work on older iPhones - do you have a 6 or earlier?

My 5S won't support it.

I have an iPhone 7 but I was trying to do it on my iPad which is about three months old.

It only works on a phone

MJMG2015 · 24/09/2020 23:05

You need to update to ios14 first.

EasilyDeleted · 24/09/2020 23:05

It only works on phones not tablets.

My daughter has told me this evening that she got it on her iPhone 11 but debating whether to download it as she has heard it drains your battery. Don’t know if there is any truth in that.

Track and Trace is what Royal Mail uses to track parcels. Have you been looking at the wrong thing? The app you want is Test and Trace.

HappydaysArehere · 24/09/2020 23:14

Should have said ipad is 3 years old not months. Mine recently updated to 13.7as did my husband’s and his a very new one and that is also only updating to 13.7 so a considerable hole in provision. Will try on iPhone.
Thank you all for your input.

Just downloaded onto iPhone. Does it continually scan as there doesn’t seem to be a facility to turn it off but perhaps that’s how it works so perhaps it does drain the battery.

You can see which apps are using the most battery in the settings of an iphone so maybe check that after 24 hours.

BlackInk · 25/09/2020 09:01

I have an iphone 6s and can't dowlload it. The app says I need ios 13.5 or above. My phone says that I need to upgrade to ios 14 but then won't actually do it...

loubieloo4 · 26/09/2020 01:46

I have it and it has drained my battery, 48% usage in the last 24hrs

Frappuccinofan · 26/09/2020 01:50

I can turn the contact tracing on/off. Going to keep it off by default, might only use it in certain public places as I need optimal battery life

I haven’t had the app for a full day yet so can’t comment on the battery life impact yet

notangelinajolie · 26/09/2020 01:56

My phone is way too old for downloading this app and updating anything would most definitely kill it off. Pity, because I would have done it if I could.

EasilyDeleted · 26/09/2020 07:56

I've had it since Thurs eve and it has used less than 1% of my battery. It's been scanning the whole time and checked in somewhere once.

GinWithRosie · 26/09/2020 09:15

Hi OP...you can turn off the track thing by toggling it off at the bottom of the first screen that you see when you open it. I've added a photo to show you where. When you toggle that to 'off' it will give you the option to set a reminder to turn it in again if you wish, but you can choose not to do that.

I've had it for two days now and not noticed any battery draining at all...but maybe this is device dependent.
