Getting dentures

Hi there
I need quite a bit of dental work done. I have been neglectful over the years (mainly through fear and fear of the cost) and, more recently, have had some dental issues caused by a medication I am taking.
My dentist has worked out a long-term plan for dealing with fillings, root canals, maybe veneers .... All very time-consuming and expensive.
The other option is getting dentures.
I need some good news stories from those who have taken the plunge and replaced their natural teeth with dentures. How was the process of having the extractions and the plates in on the same day? Though I could have top done, then the bottom.
Oooooooh, I am so nervous but I think the dentures options will be the best for me.

I don't have the experience you're looking for but may I ask if implants aren't an option? I've got a family member who has issues with their teeth that require similar sounding work to yours and they've been advised that implants are an option. Perhaps though it's not every single tooth?
