PICC Line Covers for shower - recommendations

LaLaFlottes · 23/09/2020 16:45

Hi All

Can anyone recommend a PICC line cover for use in the shower please? Is there anything else I should be getting re the PICC line?

It's for my DM. She is starting treatment in a couple of weeks.

Any other recommendations for what she might need would be gratefully received.

Many thanks

Dh had one from the GP on prescription, it's very similar to the coverings for a plaster cast.

Thank you! I’ll ask at the GP and I’ve seen some on amazon that sound like what you mean as they say they would cover a cast too.
Thanks!

Limbo are one of the cast covers.

But we just use cling film

Was she not given some covers when the PICC line was inserted? I was given a load of plastic bag tubes, with elastic at each end. They aren't completely waterproof but keep most of the water off when in the shower. I dry them out each time with the hairdryer. Each one will last for quite a few showers.

Also, you can get picc line covers for during the day from a company call picc-me.co.uk they are really good. It means you don't have the elasticated bandage on show all the time. They come in different colours and patterns.

Thank you @SilenceOfThePrams I hadn't thought of cling film - good idea!

@christmassausages she's not had it inserted yet, but her nurse today told her she would be getting one and suggested buying a waterproof cover so it didn't sound like it would be provided.

Thanks all!
