Getting period after stopping breasfeeding

I haven't had a period since DS was born 11 months ago. I stopped bf 2 months ago (and the pill 1 month ago) but it still hasn't come back. Quite a bit of cramping but nothing else. How long can it take? No symptoms of pregnancy, more's the pity.

Can take months and even years in some cases.

Hello!

No kidding? Do you know what this means in terms of trying to getting pregnant again?

Well, you can't get pregnant before you ovulate again, and you don't know when you might be ovulating until you have that first period after the postnatal bleeding stops, unless you buy one of those over the counter tests from a pharmacy. But I don't think you can do anything to hasten the re-establishment of fertility, esp as you have already stopped contraception and bf.

Years of no periods after a baby is fairly uncommon; it's more likely to be months. Meanwhile have fun trying!

Mine came back each time at around 8 months. I was still BFing about 4 times a day by then though ds were getting 3 "solid" meals a day too. For me, both mine also started sleeping through at 8 months.

Thank you very much. So basically it seems that it can vary wildly from woman to woman. It would be nice to have a more precise idea but I guess I just have to wait and see and hope it's months and not years.
