Kidney Infection

Been diagnosed by doctors with a kidney infection and they said if it worsens go straight to A&E.

Started off as urine infection on Friday then took to Wednesday to get antibiotics. Given Trime.. and basically did nothing and I started getting pain in side and under right hip and bleeding a lot as well as the pain on urinating. Feeling shaky and dizzy. Called 111 and got a 3 day course of Macrobid. This stopped the pain on urinating on day 3 and stopped the bleeding for a day but pains in side, upset stomach, very dizzy. Doctor prescribed 10 day course of antibiotics which I'm on day 1.5 of, bleeding has restarted. Skin is very itchy. I can only eat yoghurt - most food makes me feel very sick, even smell of it and can only drink water.

I've just been in hospital a month ago for breathlessness (blood pressure was also up at time and had very swollen feet) which they put down to asthma and viral infection plus heat, breathing is still not great.

Had a period of utis for 9 months 2 years ago when very ill. Dad had kidney failure as a teenager and 1 kidney removed.

Anyone had similar, just wondered whether to wait it out at home (I'm lucky have a lovely DH who is helping me) or better to go to hospital though a covid risk and may not be needed. Thanks.

i think you should certainly report any abnormal bleeding.
could you ring your GP in the morning, or failing that ring 111, or go to a walk-in centre.
i wouldn't leave it OP.
seek help asap in the morning. or tonight if feeling worse or symptoms gallop.

I get kidney infections a lot due to damage to my kidney. I'd say look out for fever, chills and clammy skin, if you are vomiting or having a lot of diarrhoea, abnormal bleeding, and intense pain or feeling extremely unwell.

I'd expect some improvement on antibiotics after 48hrs, if not they may be the wrong type or you may require IV antibiotics, which I have for a couple of kidney infections.

I've been on these 3rd set of antibiotics for 2.5 days now and I think things are starting to improve. At first I was bleeding lots then it stopped then it restarted now its stopped again. The pain from urinitating went with antibiotics course 2 and has stayed off. I've been going hot and cold, very dizzy and in pain in sides and under ribs, nausea, upset stomach x 2 and massive headache, itchy skin but starting to ease. Just able to drink water and eat yoghurt and 7.5 more days of antibiotics to go. Taking paracetomol a lot but needing to take it less now. Feel a lot less dizzy now I have stopped bleeding. I'm quite breathless but have been like that for a month and they think that's asthma.

Hospitals aren’t such a COVID risk now as they have really good procedures in place. I would go.

I had been feeling better but feeling so dizzy and sick again now, just an upset stomach once so far but seeing how it goes. Annoying as it seemed to be improving.

I'm on week 8 of a kidney infection 5 different types of antibiotics nothing worked and was admitted to hospital Monday for further tests but nothing is suggesting it's still a kidney infection! Mri scan is the next steps to see if it's damaged

I had been feeling much better but now on day 9.5 out of 10 on antibiotics (3rd lot) and pain is back along right side and right lower abdomen / under right rib and very dizzy last 2 days. Have to be very careful what I eat or feel sick. Hopefully will go again but if not I'll have to go back as well.
