Hi! I hope this is in the right place.
So when I was 19, I had issues with thrush a GP eventually swabbed and said it was thrush. Then I was put onto a long 6 month course of Fluconazole. I think I was maybe on implant at the time. For years i've had reoccuring thrush, I phone the GP and they automatically put me onto this Fluconazole everytime and I'm now 25. When I started seeing my boyfriend in October we had sex every weekend (long distance) no issues whatsoever. I think I then got the depo at the end of February then a few weeks later lockdown hit March time. I hadn't seen him until May/June but whenever we have sex for days later I have an itch sometimes it just goes away other times I phone my GP and i'm put onto Fluconazole again. I've felt recently when this has happened it's not been the usual intense itch thrush just an occasional itch now and again.
I've kept asking to be swabbed and eventually the nurse swabbed me last week (Vaginal swab) The results came back today and they said there was no yeast or BV detected. I'm so confused as last week my itch felt intense, I have white discharge cottage like in the vaginal entrance and there is white discharge in the labia area/under lips - that's where it's itchy the most. It's still like this and I've taken the Fluconazole again on my own back because I just want something to help, I took that after my swab and It's not made a difference.
I just wonder if the NHS vagina swab is accurate? because If it's accurate then I should be fine to have sex again? but my worry is what will help me and who can help me - the nurse today was unhelpful.
(I wash after sex, I pee, I make sure I don't use soaps, cotton underwear - the trigger seems to be sex. I can by dry down there
