Do NHS staff (admin) get the flu vaccine?

Riddlediddle · 20/09/2020 17:58

I'm starting a new NHS band 4 admin job in the next couple of weeks. I usually book myself in for a paid for flu vaccine at the local boots each year but then I just wondered if because I am now NHS staff I am entitled to a free vaccine? I would imagine just frontline receive the vaccine but thought i would ask on here just in case anyone knew?
Thanks

They do at my Trust.

TheRealJeanLouise · 20/09/2020 18:00

Are you working in a hospital? If so, yes. Not sure whether that applies to GP surgery staff.

NewMumma1819 · 20/09/2020 18:01

I work in a GP surgery as admin staff and we are offered it every year.

Riddlediddle · 20/09/2020 18:02

I won't be on the wards I will be office based

Yes, all staff as it is a competition between the clinical boards in my Trust so every staff member counts towards the overall percentage of compliance.

MadisonMontgomery · 20/09/2020 18:03

Yes, all NHS staff are offered it (and we have been told that this year there needs to be 100% uptake - not sure how they will manage that!)

Sixtonskip · 20/09/2020 18:04

I'm admin staff at large GP surgery and very rarely have patient contact but still get offered free flu vaccine.

Riddlediddle · 20/09/2020 18:05

Excellent thanks I will hold off on my private booking for now then

Not at my trust.
They have said that they will have a very limited supply so critical areas and patient facing staff are to be offered.
I’ve been told to advise admin staff to get it from their GP.

Montybojangles · 20/09/2020 18:24

Yes. You can always contact occupational health and ask when/where they are being done.

Tanfastic · 20/09/2020 19:02

Yes they do at my trust, I'm admin.

Riddlediddle · 20/09/2020 20:59

Good to know. Thanks everyone

Yes, but in my Trust admin staff in non clinical areas would be called forward last.

Riddlediddle · 20/09/2020 21:11

@SpeedofaSloth yes I had guessed if I was entitled to one I would be at the bottom of the list. Rightly so though as the frontline staff are the ones that face the most risk and therefore need it the most

SpeedofaSloth · 20/09/2020 21:17

I am non clinical and so am also lower down theost, I have had a jab every year so far, just not until a bit later into the flu season.

SpeedofaSloth · 20/09/2020 21:17

*the list

Clearthinking · 20/09/2020 21:20

Yep definitely office staff

captainprincess · 20/09/2020 21:25

Yep, and there are daily emails from a Comms encouraging it whilst having it on the PC desktop too.

pandafunfactory · 20/09/2020 21:27

Yes you will get it but not as quickly as you might if you book one. You will get it before the main flu season

AbsolutWitch · 20/09/2020 21:35

@MadisonMontgomery yes same at my trust...no way will we get 100% uptake.
