Vitamin C children's formula - can I give it to a 2 year old?

I bought some chewable vitamin C tablets yesterday made by SOLGAR as I was desperate to get some extra vitamin C into my DS who is full of cold. In the shop I couldn't find a minimum age on the jar, but when I got home it said for 4 and over. If I just give him 1/2 a tablet, will it be OK? Does anyone know why they say for 4 and older?

Any ideas?
