Could this be thrush?

Sorry if tmi.

I have noticed when using tampons that my vagina feels quite dry and I often feel sore on the outside but recently I’ve also started getting an itchy bottom. This is itchy all day and not just at night.

Could this be thrush?

Yes. Get some Canestan Duo from the chemist.

Passthecake30 · 19/09/2020 14:54

I find the tablets work better for me (flucanazole)

holidayseeker · 19/09/2020 14:57

Thanks both, I get ibs so have a sensitive stomach do you think I’ll be ok taking the tablet?

If it's just when you use tampons and goes away without treatment it's unlikely to be thrush.

JaJaDingDong · 19/09/2020 14:59

Try a pessary. They are easy to insert - you get a little applicator with them.

holidayseeker · 19/09/2020 14:59

It doesn’t feel as sore when I’m not using tampons but I do still feel sore on the outside all the time.

Have you tried changing your tampon brand or absorbency? I find if I use a tampon that’s too absorbent for my flow then I get sore as it stays dry and hurts when I remove it.

Do you have any other symptoms of thrush? Discharge or itchiness?

holidayseeker · 19/09/2020 20:24

I haven’t tried changing the brand but no have lowered the absorbency but still feels the same.

I’ve had itching and a swollen feeling but only a little discharge.

As @Passthecake30 said the tablet is fab xx

Passthecake30 · 19/09/2020 22:14

The tablet has never irritated my stomach. iirc you don’t need to eat it with food. It takes a few days to take effect and slowly disappear so maybe get some cream too if it’s that bad.
The first time I had thrush (25 years ago?) I was swabbed by the doctor. However, tbh I’d just give the treatment a shot first.

I didn’t contact the drs as they say to not contact for something you can treat yourself.

Does anyone know if thrush can also make your bottom itchy?

Thrush could make your bottom itchy if the discharge from your vagina made it round there but you said you haven’t got much discharge so perhaps not.

Try an OTC remedy and if it doesn’t go away, see your GP. Hope you feel better soon

Thanks

It isn't though. You need to be examined and diagnosed initially. There is no point in treating for thrush when there could be multiple other causes. At the very least ask to see the nurse.
