Ds has a hard lump under the skin on his forehead

It is almost exactly in the middle of his forehead and I only just noticed it today. He was frowing at me and it looked odd so I ran my finger over his forehead and there is definatly a hard lump there.

He did bang his head in that exact spot about 2/3 weeks ago, when he fell forward off a bench onto the playground at school. Nothing was done to treat it ie no cold compress etc, as no one saw him do it, and it took the spanish inquesition to get out of him what he'd done, and he said he never even cried, but he had a lump and bruise for at least a week.

Would the hard lump under the skin be related to that ?

My best guess would be yes, otherwise it would be a huge coincidence! It is probably a nasty bruise and has left a more stubborn lump. Try rubbing some arnica on it, and if he doesn't mind, a cool compress. It can do wanders even if it is a bit late!

Ahh right, ok will give that a go and see what happens.

could be a cyst - dh had a huge one there, there are glands there which can get blocked, specially if they have been knocked. if it doesn't clear up, go to a doctor. whatever happens, don't squeeze it.

nutcracker · 08/10/2007 20:59

I don't think I could squeeze it as it's very hard, almost feels like a lump of bone tbh.

My ds has one of these by his hairline, it's been there about 5 yrs, and gp says it's scar tissue (from something I don't remember his doing). So I'd take your ds to the gp but don't worry too much.

WideWebWitch · 08/10/2007 21:01

I took ds 3 times over 3 odd yrs. All said same.
