Dd 10 started with what appears to be a gastric bug on Friday with vomiting and diarrhoea . She has had a high fever too. Temperature better now at 37. 8 but diarrhoea has not stopped. It’s frothy yellow and she has been 3 times already today. I’m offering lots of fluid and she has had one diarolyte today too. She is so weak now. She has a piece of toast today and couple of slices of banana. I have called school and they have another child with similar symptoms so I think I can be confident that it’s viral. Should I be doing anything else?

It maybe worth trying apple juice if she likes it. Its easily tolerated and sugar may boost her energy levels. Is she managing to wee ok? If not improving after 5 days seek advice from GP. Stool sample likely next step.

Thanks @Mumof1I. Yes she is still going for regular wees. I will try some apple juice.

Oh that sounds rough. Echo advice of above. And get a Covid test (if you can!!) as she’s got one of the symptoms. I believe children are more likely to have vomiting/diarrhoea with Covid as well.

Covid a real possibility.

I would stay off the wheat as can irritate the stomach. Plain dry rice crispies with no added milk/sugar is good as very bland and then build up from there - hope she feels better soon.
