Is anybody else down with a nondescript virus that isn't covid?

I've had + covid test a couple of months ago and recovered completely, confirmed by a subsequent negative test.

Now since Sunday I've felt like absolute crap. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what it is as it's quite nondescript. The only things I can describe are a mild sore throat on one side, swollen glands (infront of my ears) a general feeling of malaise and feeling absolutely rubbish.

Very slight nausea and loose bowels.

Does anybody else have something like this?

I'm only asking as some are hell bent on trying to tell me I must have caught covid twice and are forgetting that other bugs and virus' are still doing the rounds Confused

My dh has had this for a week or so. Started off with normal cold symptoms and then turned into dodgy gut. He’s got docs on Monday though.

NTHEN · 11/09/2020 15:44

Thank you for the reply Quackers, I'm sorry your DH is ill too.

This is day 5 for me with no improvement.

No chance of a doctors here, they won't see somebody in the absence of an emergency at the minute.

I'm reluctant to call them and ask for a telephone appointment incase they try and push antibiotics on me (It's happened before, needlessly)

It's definitely something viral for sure.

My two year old seems to have picked it up from me albeit mildly. He's sleeping alot in the day and has had some unpleasant nappies.

It's such a weird one as I feel alot worse than I look. I've not had to take to my bed but would probably benefit from doing exactly that.

No worries hon, I was quite concerned about my dh as it’s been going on for a long time now . It’s started when my kid came back from nursery with a cold and passed it to his wee sister and then dh. The kids didn’t have bad tummies though.

Funny you say you feel a lot worse than you look coz my dh looks totally fine, I was just saying to him you don’t look poorly at all.

The appointment is a phone one . Hope you feel better soon. Maybe you should call docs to get advice coz it’s really tough having bad guts for so long. Xx

Hi Nthen

How are you feeling now , I've had the exact same thing for 3 weeks now , feeling terrible with it !

GalOopNorth · 15/09/2020 16:42

Yesss me!
Dizzy, feel sick, exhausted, sore throat

Eugh

GalOopNorth · 15/09/2020 16:43

And sore boobs. Very sore Hmm

Definitely not pregnant - wondering if it is unrelated to the other feeling crapness

orangetop2 · 15/09/2020 16:45

With you on the exhausted and dizzy ! Just have zero energy for anything !

Whatever it is it's lingering , felt a little better last week and then boom it's back

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 15/09/2020 17:00

Yes, me

On and off yukky sick feeling and gone off my food which is v v unusual!

Moonflower12 · 15/09/2020 17:20

Yes! Plus feeling 'hollow'. We have it going round- all ages appear to have it.

Thighdentitycrisis · 15/09/2020 17:55

Today I have sore throat, metallic mouth, loose bowels, cracking headache, weak and nauseous. I don’t feel well enough to work.

I definitely feel viral but don’t think this fits as COVID

SexTrainGlue · 15/09/2020 18:00

I'm only asking as some are hell bent on trying to tell me I must have caught covid twice and are forgetting that other bugs and virus' are still doing the rounds

So you've been tested and repeat Covid has been excluded?

Because there is a GI version

www.kcl.ac.uk/news/six-distinct-types-of-covid-19-identified

and you've just described its symptoms exactly (yes, you get a sore throats with it)

orangetop2 · 15/09/2020 18:05

@Thighdentitycrisis

THIS !! This has been exactly me , I haven't tested for covid as I don't think it's it and didn't want to take a test that someone else might need!

My neck glands are also very swollen and just generally feel I've been hit by a train

Thighdentitycrisis · 15/09/2020 18:07

@orangetop2
Me too
I haven’t been sleeping well so hoping to sleep better tonight and that it might improve tomorrow

Thighdentitycrisis · 15/09/2020 18:08

Also tearful

PixellatedPixie · 15/09/2020 18:11

At my DC’s school many kids have been home with viral symptoms and quite a few have had negative Covid tests. On the mum chat we established that about 5 out of only 30 in the bubble have had this infection. Seems early for September?

ohidoliketobe · 15/09/2020 18:12

Ohhh I'm nearly crying finding this thread.
2 weeks ago started with very heavy cold, plus achey and a highish temp (no cough or loss or sense of taste/smell and also vvv. Runny nose so dismissed covid). Felt a bit better after 6 days or so but then started with upset stomach. Week later still drained, no appetite, funny taste in my mouth and sore boobs. Taken 3 preg tests to rule that out as I'm on mirena so can be very light periods. All negative. Glad to hear I'm not losing the plot, and symphaties others who have it, it's pretty grim

thedaytodayyesterday · 15/09/2020 18:13

Yes! We’ve had this ! You’ve described it perfectly. It’s so innocuous though that we dismissed it as just seasonal change/adjusting to day starting preschool Confused
