Vomiting and severe nausea and dirrohea after eating - help!

I will try and keep this brief.
I'm 20 years old, not pregnant. Had a 'sensitive' stomach all my life - always a small eater etc.

Over the past 3 months have noticed increasing pain after eating - like extreme trapped wind (and did have a lot of wind) It got worse to the point where I felt so unwell after eating I had to lay down. Vomited at one point after a meal but this was the first time so didn't think much of it.

Called doctors 2 weeks ago, got prescribed Mebeverine. It had helped the cramps slightly however was still getting dirrohea etc, doctor suspected IBS. I have another phone app booked for tomorrow but I've been going out of my mind with bloody Dr Google!!

Over the past week I have vomited twice after eating, once this past Sunday and also today. I feel fine for 5 minutes, then the cramps come, then the nausea and then within 20 minutes I've vomited. TMI but today's vomit was undigested. Both times I've been on the toilet at the same time with extreme runs, having to go back 5-6 times as I kept feeling like I was 'done' but then I wasn't really.

It's at the point where I'm nervous to eat anywhere out of my own house incase an episode comes on. It doesn't happen with every meal, for example I ate dinner tonight and was absolutely fine. No triggers that I can see.

I realise this reads like a stomach bug but it feels like it's been going on for months but getting closer together and more severe.

I'm just wondering if anyone can reassure me because I feel really scared. Thank you for reading and thanks in advance for replies Sad

fodmaps/lactose?

asblackasyoursoul · 10/09/2020 00:12

Sorry should mention. Yes have been following FODMAP diet. Seems that dairy or wheat isn't a trigger.

Also should mention (apologies, I am tired!) that I have noticed I've been getting heartburn more often this year. Before that I had never even experienced heartburn.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FODMAP I've been in an appalling state after a creamy cheesy Italian meal, and peppers are agony...

mrwalkensir · 10/09/2020 00:17

apologies - didn't see your update

asblackasyoursoul · 10/09/2020 00:18

Yeah, I haven't been following it for that long so of course still open to suggestion about food triggers. But could it cause the extreme nausea and vomiting?

Have a look at eosinophilic oesophagitis.

@IKEA888

Have had a look, thanks. I don't have the persistent heartburn, trouble swallowing or feeling of food being stuck, chest pain etc

Sounds similar to when I had gallstones. You might rule it out just because a lot of places say it’s more common to hurt on the right hand side, but my pain was in my whole stomach and back. Does it happen more often after fatty foods? I’ve attached a screenshot of symptoms, which hopefully will show (I know pictures can be a bit hit and miss on here)

Thank you, I can see the screenshot, I don’t have the dark urine or clay coloured stools.
I don’t have pain in my back or right side, it’s just my entire stomach area cramping Sad

I wonder how they would differ between that and say Gastritis?

Forgot to say, yes I have noticed it more after greasy/fatty foods.

Definitely worth mentioning it to the GP if it’s worse after fatty foods, as that’s commonly associated with gallbladder trouble. At my worst I was in agony and throwing up if I ate more than 10 grams of fat in a day, it was awful.

I have crohn's disease and it does sound like that. I'd ask the doctor to check for it.
20 year after being diagnosed I still have about 5 foods that I eat when out and about. Bright side: every holiday I lose weight and come home skinny....

Torvean32 · 10/09/2020 04:59

Sounds like IBS to me.

asblackasyoursoul · 10/09/2020 11:46

Update - doctor called this morning. Has put me on Lanzoprazole to see if the issue is excess stomach acid, has also prescribed a few anti emetics to see if it helps. She basically said it’s process of elimination, as if the Lanzoprazole doesn’t help then they’ll need to do further investigation

I was surprised that excess stomach acid could cause vomiting though!

Hiatus hernia? I used to get like this before cutting out all spicy food and taking omeprazole daily...felt like extreme panic before being violently sick too =(
The after effects would last at least the next day too, felt generally unwell for ages

darktriad · 10/09/2020 23:09

allergy? it took me many painful years to establish I was allergic to gram flour, crippling stomach pains, nausea and a feeling of impending doom, think it may be pancreatic pain rather than stomach, but it's truly awful
