ds1 went down with a slight cold a couple of days ago, now ds2 and I have got it. ds2 can still feed and sleepy well when in our arms but, especially when not, is very snuffly. Otherwise he seems fine. I'm going to the doctor with both boys for something else tomorrow and would rather not head out to emergency doc today... can it wait? (I know this is more of a first-timer question, but ds1 has had about three tiny colds and one minor vomiting bug in his life, and wasn't ill at all his first few months, so am clueless re. illness in general and in newborns in particular).

Am getting thrown off computer now (F1 ) but will be back later. TIA.

If he's feeding and has lots of wet and dirty nappies I'd leave it. He might be better if you can keep him slightly propped up - maybe in his car seat if you don't want to hold him all the time. Hope he's better soon.

It might be worth popping to a pharmacy if you have one close. A friend of mines newborn got a snuffle and she was given some drops. I dont know what they were called or if they were on prescription but a pharmacist would know I am sure.

the docs will give you saline drops for hisnose, they do have a name but i cant remember, you will be okay if you leave him until tomorrow.in the meantime why dont you get some snuffle babe or a karvol plug in for the room.it may ease things for him.ds had this when he was born and i was told that if he had difficulty breathing while laid flat to use his bouncer, car seat or swing to help him

Tizzwhizz, I got saline drops for DS2 (he had a lot of snuffles when newborn), they were very effective in clearing his nose.

xposts!
Karvol plug ins can work wonders!

Poor little chap Get the saline drops and a the nose sucker out to relieve his stuffiness especially before a feed. Humidifier if you have one. Also you may want to wedge his mattress up a little.

Thank you all Am sending dh and ds1 to the chemist for some saline drops. We've propped up his mattress. He's in a lot less distress than in the night and is holding up really well, feeding too. We've also had a nappy explosion so no worries there. Hopefully because I've got it too there will be plenty of antibodies in my milk.
