Why does sleep make me more tired?!

Have a 3 month old who wakes frequently at night. I struggle to switch off after night feeds and so don't get a lot of sleep.
However, recently when DH has taken the baby overnight as I'm really drained, I'm actually MORE tired the next day after 8 hours of sleep?
I think I've probably got a load of deficiencies etc and am trying to take supplements.

Is this normal and is there anything I can do to actually feel alive again Confused

I felt like this the first few times my baby slept through! I think I got used to the adrenaline that kept me going on such little sleep!

Same here, I did 19 months on waking every 2 hours and now child is sleep through the night or wakes 2-3 times I'm even more exhausted

I think the body just gets used to running on little sleep

You can sleep 10 hours but with 80% of it being light sleep rather deep and REM sleep which are the stages where you recharge your batteries.
