DH has had a heart attack

Have had an absolute roller coaster of a week as my lovely DH had a heart attack Monday. Wanted to post here as hoping anyone who has gone through similar is able to provide advise or reassurance.

He was taken to hospital Monday and had 2 stents inserted and spent 2 nights in the CCU before being moved to a ward. He was told depending on scans that he would be able to come home Friday. The scan showed he has a clot in his heart from the heart attack so is now on warfarin and unlikely to be home before Wednesday, which seems so much longer than most people are in for.

It has been a huge shock as he is only 45 and fairly fit, just trying to process it all.

So sorry to hear this.

I think being fairly fit already should help though maybe review his exercise regime with the doctors to check its safe / get their advice.

I hope someone will be along shortly who's been through it and can provide more reassurance for you. Closest we've had is DHs twin brother who had a stroke at a similar age and he's OK now, they made DH get checks as related (French doctor said to) but he was fine.

Thank you, just been so difficult made worse by not being able to visit.

They are waiting for the warfarin for his clotting level to increase he is at 1.8 and needs to be a 2 before they release him, not sure how long that will take I guess everyone is different when it comes to warfarin.

Hope he will be home with you soon.

I had to go to hospital recently and it was a bit strange DH wasn't allowed in at all but it was much nicer than normal, own room, bed and bathroom and the care was excellent, it seemed less busy than usual as staff in all the time so I think he should be getting very good care and he's in the best place atm.

Might be worth looking at British Heart Foundation, you probably have already. I hope everything works out for you all.
