Constant mouth ulcers

I need help/to hear people's experiences! I am suffering with CONSTANT mouth ulcers and have been for nearly a year now. I've been to the doctors and they've run tests to check for all sorts (vitamin deficiency, auto immune conditions, leukaemia) they have said everything has come back normal and there's nothing more they can do. I've been to the dentist countless times and they also have no suggestions. I've asked to be referred to ENT because I also suffer with recurrent tonsillitis and wondering if they may be linked? I'm in constant pain I've tried numerous OTC things to help. Has anyone every suffered with this? Did anything help? Have you somehow stopped them? Has anyone got any suggestions? I can't cope with them Sad

I had this when I was in a abusive relationship after moving out from my abusive parents. It was simply too much stress.

Are you stressed about anything?

Viviennemary · 03/09/2020 20:12

I agree stress can be a cause. And feeling generally run down and over tired.

AJ297 · 03/09/2020 20:16

Well...I don't feel overly stressed, but I have had twins within the last year GrinI've just gone back to work this week so I'm hoping maybe some normality may help. I thought stress but I feel the most relaxed I have in years, and for the past 6 months at least I've had probably 3 ulcers at least at any one time. Sleep may be something to look into, I'd say on average I get about 5/6 hours a night. Thank you for your replies, it's getting me so down and people don't seem to understand how much of a drain it is Sad

I agree with the stress comments- I had recurring mouth ulcers at a period in my life when I was really stress and terrible anxiety. I can't remember the last time I had an ulcer now that I am more relaxed!

My sil had the same. In the end it took a course of antibiotics but it took years
Hers only appeared when she stopped smoking but I do not recommend smoking!

B12 supplements helped me. Holland and Barrett sell tablets. GP recommended I tried them and I think they have helped, although it took about 6 months. This was a few years ago, but I still take them every day.

And switching to sensodyne toothpaste, as well.

AJ297 · 03/09/2020 20:46

Thank you all. I've been taking multivitamins so may try B12 instead and see if that makes more of a difference, I've recently switched to Corsodyl toothpaste but I may try sensodyne as it doesn't seem to have made a difference. Needcoffeecoffeecoffee I may ask about antibiotics, it's not something they have tried or suggested so it may be something to look into. Thank you again, I'm really grateful for the suggestions!

My DD gets a lot of mouth ulcers when she uses toothpastes with SLS in them. She now uses aquafresh and is fine but even a weekend of something different starts them off again.
