Irregular mole. Referred to hospital.

Spoke to the doctor yesterday about a mole on my arm that I've always been concerned about. It's not become raised in 1 side, grown a bit and has a irregular border. I sent her pics so she could see it and we did a scoring thing. She said 3 was suspicious and I scored 7! She's referred me to the hospital to get it looked at. Anyone had anything similar? I'm worried.

DS had a very suspicious mole, but after hospital check they decided it was ok. Good luck.

Yes. I had a couple cut out. One was a couple of centimetres across, had grown quite quickly and was very bumpy. Both turned out to be nothing.
A friend had one on her ankle that turned out to be malignant. They cut deep to cut it out which was quite painful (not much padding on an ankle) but they got it all and she is fine now.
Another friend apparently is very prone. She has photos taken of her body and regular hospital checks to see what has changed. All fine though.

@Autumn1122 how did they do the scoring? I have been put on a 2 week wait for a mole that has changed size, shape and colour. I've been seen by my GP and then was referred to the hospital. I've since had a phone call with the dermatology consultant and sent her some photos. She didn't mention a score, but I answered yes to pretty much most of the questions! I'm waiting to hear what they want to do next.

I've also had a mole removed before, about 16 years ago. That one was tested and they said the cells had begun to change but the area around it was fine, so no treatment needed after that.

I had one that was suspicious enough that the dermatologist cut it out. Turned out to be fine.

I had similar, dr at the hospital had a look and said it was fine, no need to do anything.

I don’t remember them giving my mole a scoring but it was very dark, almost black, irregular, appeared to be getting bigger and changing and the due to my history of using sunbeds, the dermatologist seemed very concerned about it. Told me it needed to be cut out and looked at. After a long 6 week wait the results came back clear. I was very shocked they were clear I was definitely assuming the worst as it had all the signs. Good luck OP.
