Anyone else with VERY irregular cycle?

Hi Everyone,

I am starting to get really concerned about my, what should be, monthly cycle. I had my contraceptive implant removed around 12 months ago as we are trying for a baby. I understand that it can take a while for a cycle to get back to normal but mine really does extreme and doesn't seem to be getting back on track at all.

My cycle varies from as little as 13 days between periods to 70 days and every other number inbetween! I have seen my GP and have had all bloods done and an ultrasound and have been referred to a gynecologist. So I am suppose to have my 21 day bloods checked but as I am now on my period on day 18 I don't know if there is even any point.

Is anyone else in the same boat? I am just starting to get so concerned.

Me. Not much advice to give, except to say I’m in the same position. I got tested for all the usual medical causes of irregular periods and they all came back normal. My gp said that some people just have irregular cycles. Not much help I’m afraid.

Thank you for your reply, it helps to know I’m not on my own with these insane cycles. Can I ask if you were on contraception before? I’m not sure if it’s because of the many years being on the implant or if it’s just my body and the implant masked any irregularities as I wasn’t tracking for all the previous years

I was on the pill for about 15 years. I went on it quite young because I was irregular and had quite painful periods. At the time they thought that the irregularity was just because I was young, but it appears that that wasn’t the case. I don’t think the pill caused it, but it definitely masked the irregularity for years. I’ve been off birth control now for over a year and my period is still all over the map (cycle ranges from 30-90+ days). Just seems to be how I am, unfortunately.
