Iron tablets - Constipation

roseyroserose · 29/08/2020 01:52

I started very high dose iron tablets two ago.
I am laying here in absolute agony with constipation. Never felt cramps like it. Have taken a laxative but can take up to 6 hours to work!
Has anyone ever take ibuprofen for the pain or will that make it worse?
Have drunk lots of water in the last 2 hours.
I can't sleep with the cramps- so painful!

If you are taking ferrous sulphate then switch to ferrous gluconate or ferrous fumarate if you suffer from constipation. Always take iron with glass of orange juice to avoid constipation.
Your cramps might have settled by now but in future take sodium picosulfate for constipation do that you don't get cramps at all.
And yes you can take ibuprofen but warm to hot water also works. Just drink a glass if you are suffering from cramps because of laxative or constipation.
