Thyroid biopsy

I’m going for my third thyroid biopsy tomorrow morning checking for cancer, I have one every year, although last year had two within a few weeks of the first one, as they didn’t collect enough cells to get a clear diagnosis , absolute dread going again as I find it hard to breathe while it’s taking place, as already have gerd which affects breathing but that’s another story, but obviously this time I will be wearing a face mask, so will be even worse, anyone had thyroid biopsies

I have had loads and they always come back inconclusive! There are no worrying signs on any of my scans, which show a benign cystic nodule so I've actually been discharged as the inconclusive result is to be expected with the kind of nodule I have (very cystic). I re-referred myself during lockdown as I felt the nodule was getting larger again and so I expect I'll have to have another biopsy soon. It's very unpleasant I agree - I feel for you but if you tell them how anxious you are about it, hopefully they will be patient and as gentle as possible.
