Help advice needed - acne and doxycillin

It’s not for me; it’s for my 17 year old. Past history of anxiety and od. Resolved but left with a legacy of fixation and major health anxiety (think having to see a dr anxious that a spot is melanoma). He was prescribed doxycillin today and unfortunately before I got home, googled the hell out of it and came up with a million reasons why he doesn’t want to take it because of side effects). Anyone had any good experiences with this and can offer reassuring info, or is he right. He gets big eruptions of acne at times that gets infected, but atm, he’s got two small spots although they clearly feel like half his face to him. Any help greatly appreciated.

My 17yo DD was prescribed it a few months back as she had developed acne for the first time and she took it with no side effects and it worked. She has recently gone on the pill and the GP gave her one that helps with acne too so she no longer needs the doxycillin so I can't comment on long term use.

Oh thank you so much for responding. He seems to have gained a bit more perspective today and acknowledged that the dr probably knows more than google. Still won’t take it, but I hope that he will calm down about it. Appreciate your thoughts.
