DH has just had this done; he is traumatised! I remember my dad had to have one (years ago) and described as "the most unpleasant experience in his life".

I was wondering if every man who has to have this done is equally traumatised. DH came home in tears, and even now - days later - describing it to me will turn him into an emotional mess.

Is that a normal reaction?

My dad passed out when he had his Sad he is fairly squeamish, but I think it’s pretty bad. Hope your DH is ok

Thanks, nomorespaghetti, it's good to know that it wasn't just dh (who is also fairly squeamish).

They use a local, which at this distance, seems to be inadequate. DH has said if he has to have another he'll insist on a general. I wonder if that's possible? He has said he'll refuse it otherwise.

My husband was also traumatised when he had his, and bled for at least a week afterwards. He has also said he'll refuse another, and wished he'd never had it.

Just for info (for lurkers, but also if either of your dh's do have to have another) - I got a child's swimming ring and though dh poo-pooed it he did find that it was so much more comfortable for sitting and thanked me for ignoring his ridiculing and getting it anyway.

Is also good for piles.....

Good tip Jux.
Thanks - will bear it in mind.
