Feel like something is stuck under left rib?

Has anyone had this? It comes and goes sometimes once a week other times once a month. It feels like there is a lump stuck under my left ribs it aches and feels uncomfortable. I've only really noticed it in the last few months it hurts more. Then will go away for weeks Confused. I can remember about 8 years ago feeling the same thing on my left side it's so bizarre? I don't want to google or bother my GP. Just wondered what it could be.
Thank You

Gall bladder? That's where my pain started.

isabellerossignol · 21/08/2020 21:44

Sounds like how my gall bladder problems started too. I had that feeling for years before it actually developed into proper pain.

Itsatoughgig · 21/08/2020 21:45

@goose1964 isn’t the gallbladder on the rhs of the body? Might help explain some of my pain over the years if that’s how your gallbladder pain presented.

isabellerossignol · 21/08/2020 21:47

Oh, hang on. Maybe it was the right?

I just remember a dull feeling under my ribs as if something was sitting in the wrong place.

Disco91 · 21/08/2020 21:48

Could be your spleen maybe

flashbac · 21/08/2020 21:51

I have this on LHS and it's worse with pregnancy. Have no idea what it is.

pinkpetal2 · 21/08/2020 22:08

I have no idea what it is I'm never usually in pain or nothing but I have had a baby in the last 7 months so could be that's why it's playing up more. If I lean to my right side I can feel a bulge that's move able but then again if I lean to the left side it hurts and I can also feel a bulge on the right side. Confused.

I'm going to book a doctors appt about it because it's aching now most days before it would go away for months now it's back all the time. However my posture is so bad ridiculously bad and I'm 2 stone overweight for my height so I'm wondering if it's all this causing it?

Possibly a hernia?

DemiBourbon · 03/09/2020 20:02

I had this, thought it was gallstones but turned out to be kidney stones. The doctor will probably arrange an ultrasound, I also had an x-ray. Hope you get some respite soon Flowers

pinkpetal2 · 03/09/2020 20:56

It's worrying me I keep worrying it's something life threatening, but I can remember rubbing my side thinking ouch like 8-10 years ago, or even 5 years I'm not sure I think it's always been there Confused.

Mine comes and goes and I’ve had two terrible episodes where I’ve been hospitalised when I’ve passed stones. First one when I was pregnant 8 years ago and one a few years ago after I had second DC. Kidney stones definitely flare up because of pregnancy. They can hang around for years. Hopefully you’ll get it sorted once you’ve seen the doctor.

flashbac · 05/09/2020 19:02

Do kidney stones hurt under the left boob through?

pinkpetal2 · 07/09/2020 11:56

I spoke to the doctor today and she's referred me for an ultrasound

@flashbac yes, they can hurt all around rib/back area.

pinkpetal2 · 10/09/2020 16:06

Hi again I had excruciating pain earlier so they've asked me to come to the urgent care part of the hospital today. It came in waves and made me feel sick.

Hope you get it sorted Flowers Yes, very nauseous here when passing stones, if it gets too bad ask for gas and air. Let us know how you get on if you’re up to it.

pinkpetal2 · 10/09/2020 22:12

Hey I just got back from the hospital the doctor felt that lump id posted about here and he said maybe a limpoma I can't spell it I'm sorry. And he thinks there's a kidney stone stuck so I have a scan booked for tomorrow morning.
I'm still in a lot of pain but it's gone to my back now and not the front so I've just got some paracetamol and ibuprofen which isn't helping.
They did bloods and urine and all was fine, I wanted to ask if I had anything serious going on would my bloods of shown an infection somewhere or is that wrong? As there was no signs of any infection at all.

Hey had the Cat scan today no sign of no masses no sign of kidney stones. Two doctors felt that lump and said they are certain it's a lipoma and that it's nothing to worry about but the anxiety is taking over and worrying me a little.
I'm petrified it's cancer or something I feel so dramatic even saying that.
They've asked me to get my ovaries scanned next which I did have done around 18months ago so we will see. Hopefully it's ok

It’s good you’re having another scan, I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about and should put your mind at rest Flowers

largeginforme · 27/04/2021 08:24

Hi op, how are you? Did you get to the bottom of it? I am experiencing similar and so worried @pinkpetal2

Danibooshie · 27/09/2021 00:52

Did you get your results?
I’m a 40 year female with exactly the same symptoms for 2 years. I have had two ultrasounds and 2 chest X-rays.
This is my 3rd episode of pain over the last 2 years and more than ever it feels like something is stuck under my bottom left rib. If I lay a certain way I have to move as it feels like my rib is going to poke it. My first doctor could also feel a lump and visibly see it. But ultra sounds and X-ray showed nothing there. I have bad posture and overweight by 10kg
