Hip bursitis/ tendon problems

Just wondering if anyone has had hip bursitis or tendon problems? My right hip is hurting a lot and I've had a telephone physio appointment and GP appointment. One says bursitis and the other says it's tendonitis. I've got some exercises to do but she's saying it's going to take a long time to feel the benefit. Has anyone had this and how didn't you manage? It's not helping that I have to pick up my very heavy toddler quite a lot. I'm trying to make him do more walking and I let him climb the stairs now with me behind just to try reduce how much I carry him. I just hate having to take painkillers. I don't generally like taking tablets.

I've had both at the same time. I have a congenital hip deformity and now I'm older it the tendons and muscles are starting to feel the strain, the deformity also causes a tendency to bursitis. The only reliable way to diagnose conclusively is a scan.

I was told by three separate physios that my problem was probably bursitis in my hip, whereas it was in fact a mechanical problem and I needed arthroscopic surgery to repair the joint. You need a scan.
