Non healing breast sore

Dm has had breast cancer twice, had a mastectomy the last time. She has a sore on her breast which isn't going away and has a referral to the cancer unit next week.
Realistically it's unlikely be good news is it?

A work colleague had a similar issue and it was an infection. (I only know as I walked into the ladies when she was changing a dressing)!
She was on antibiotics for two weeks and was told at the slightest hint it wasn't healing to go back to the doctor. I think they can turn into an abscess which needs referral to be drained. (It didn't in her case and cleared fine).
So don't think the worst. Hope it turns out to be easily sorted.

Well she had a couple of biopsies yesterday, and had a phone call this morning to go back to see the consultant on Friday.
Does anyone know if she can take someone with her for the results? My dad had to wait in the car yesterday for 4 hours, they had no idea she would have so many tests, it was quite stressful for her.

@EvenPhilip I hope everything turned out well for your mum. I’m too late for advice, but maybe for another time you could ask her to call you from the consultants room and put you on speaker phone if you cannot attend with her.
