Should I take this medication?

I have been recently diagnosed with an overactive thyroid. I am currently taking carbimazole for my thyroid problems and was prescribed the beta-blocker propranolol. I didn't take the propranolol due to having asthma, which I enquired with a pharmacist who also said not to take it. The reason I was prescribed propranolol was because I had been having heart palpitations/anxiety.

I was then prescribed Verapamil the calcium channel blocker. It's used to treat high blood pressure, migraines and chest pains(?)- and more things but I'm not 100% sure on what else really. I bought myself a blood pressure checker yesterday, and after testing twice everything seemed fine? The results were 100/72 the first time and the second time was 98/75 which I believe is in the normal range? Correct me if I'm wrong Grin so anyway, I'm worried about taking verapamil because I don't want it to reduce my blood pressure when I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Or am I just worrying about nothing?

I have always been funny about taking any sort of medication so I'm probably just overthinking it. I think my doctors/endocrinologist are bored of hearing from me now so trying to give them a break from me Grin

Try a medication review with the pharmacist?

@ZarkingBell hey! Thanks, I considered speaking to the pharmacist but was unsure whether they would be able to help or not? But I do think they are probably the best people to ask? They have been super helpful with any other questions so I might give them a ring.

I am the same and also have lowish blood pressure. I took one beta-blocker and my heart slowed a lot so I didn't carry on. No idea if the other drug is the same but I'd speak to someone first. Medication reviews are supposed to keep this kind of problem in check but lots of things are falling through the cracks at the minute and GPs do make mistakes
