???

Do you think you need to be having a period to have an ultrasound of your ovaries?

I don't know why you would think that.

Your ovarian cysts will look the same whether you are having a period or not. They are left over sacs of fluid (usually fluid filled) from previous ovulation, often months or years ago.

You don't need to postpone unless it makes you feel uncomfortable. The sonographers will be used to scanning people bleeding and it won't affect their ability to assess your cysts if you have any.Hope all is ok!

Or do you mean you think a scan is done when you are ovulating?

No.

Cysts are there all the time until they go away or are removed.

@dammit88- she says she will have stopped bleeding then.

Sorry no I didn’t mean that I think I have to be ovulating or that I have to be on my period I was just worried that it would mean that they would be unable to complete the scan. Thank you dammit88 for your helpful answer.

There's a cover on the internal wand thing they scan you with so I'm sure they're used to some amount of blood
