Hello MN

I have a mole on my face, it's actually called a Spitz Nevus and I've had it for as long as I can remember.

I went to the GP when I was about 14 but they didn't remove as they said it was cosmetic.

I'm now nearing 30, and would like to have it removed. It's not even big, I just would like to experience the second half of my life without it, and I've always seen it as a flaw.

It's like pulling teeth trying to get a referral from the GP. I'm willing to pay private.

Do I contact private hospital myself?
Would a cosmetic surgeon be better?

How do I start this process?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I suspect if it's classed as comestic then you wouldn't need a GP referral to go private. Have a check on your local private hospital website, they should have an advice line you can ring for initial enquiries.

Thank you for the reply.

I will try this, I wasn't sure if I needed to be referred via GP or could just do it myself.

I do have BUPA but I have a feeling they won't cover this.

Just ring bupa or dad the small print in your policy,, they're really easy to deal with IME

Read not dad!

I’ve recently seen a dermatologist at a bupa hospital- I just rang up and made an app. However, I know that the SKN clinics do mole removal as well.
