Does this freckle look strange. It has a black bit in the middle but I'm not sure if that's usually there. I just spotted it when I was putting suncream on in the mirror. Does anyone have a freckle like this? 1st photo is zoomed in.

It does look a bit discoloured however I'm no expert so don't take my word for it. Speak to the GP maybe? Hope everything is okay OP.

Just get it checked by your GP. It’s what they’re there for.

Just get it checked. And the gp can check other ones on your back or whatever too. I go to mine regularly for mole checks as I can’t really see some of them.

I'd have it checked out personally, but as I've had malignant melanoma I'm extra cautious about things like this!

I use an app called Skin Vision. It takes pics of your moles and measures them. Others would probably say the app is ridiculous but it was actually what showed I had an issue with a mole that turned out to be MM. in fact I had an email from Skin Vision asking me to get it checked out. I might have left it otherwise.

I'm now using the app to track another mole, which isn't causing me too much worry yet.

I’ve got one exactly like this on the back of my leg. I did go to the docs and she referred me because the borders were uneven. I was seen within two weeks and it was benign. It’s definitely better to be on the safe side. Go to the GP.

JinglingHellsBells · 14/08/2020 12:51

@LazyDaisy10 have you done anything about it yet? It does fulfil 2 criteria for skin cancer: irregular border and a black centre. Please see your GP.

The only way you can tell is by seeing a specialist. Go to your GP and if they are concerned they will refer you, or you can pay for a private full mole check. I had a full mole check a couple of years ago, and the consultant checked every mole I have (and I have loads.) The one I was initially concerned about didn't bother her, but one that I had never been concerned about she wanted to remove. She did so a couple of weeks later, sent it off for testing and it was nothing. But the way she checked every single mole was very thorough, and she used lighting instruments and scopes that even your GP would not have.

Just to update and thank everyone who replied. I went to gp and she referred me to the hospital to get it checked. A few weeks wait, probably longer than usual thanks to covid but hopefully it will be fine. She said she wouldn t loose any sleep over it but she'll refer me just to be sure

I had a similar mole on my back a few years ago. Turned out to be ok but had it removed on NHS anyway as it was big and could cause problems in future. Have a bigger scar now but better to be safe. Good luck

Hi OP. Not sure if you will see this or not but I have a mole that looks very similar to yours. Can I please ask what yours turned out to be in the end please and if it was ok? @LazyDaisy10
