Appointment with paediatric surgeon

Hi there - I know no one can really answer this but I’ve got myself worked up so hoping someone may have had a similar experience.

My 8 month old recently saw a gastro for various ongoing problems. He decided to discuss her with the surgical team (we never met any of them - happened at an internal meeting I gather), and a couple of weeks later we had an appointment for an MRI scan.

The scan went ahead last week. We have a gastro follow up in late August, however today I received an appointment with the paediatric surgeon in 10 days. I also missed a call from the hospital on Thursday but they haven’t tried again.

Does this suggest they’ve found something on the scan? I would have thought if it was normal the gastro would just let us know at the next appointment and the surgeons wouldn’t need to get involved at all. Or perhaps as the surgeons ordered the scan, they follow up?

I know this is pure speculation but I can’t call anyone as it’s the weekend - so just wondering whether anyone has experience of seeing the surgical team if surgery was in fact not indicated? Just a worried mum!

Thank you Smile

Hi OP, the call could be to confirm the appointment in 10 days. My local hospital is ringing up to 2 weeks before appointments to confirm and advise if the appointment will be at the hospital or via a telephone call.
You could search the main line for the gastro paeds team at your local hospital, I'm sure they will be able to help 😊
