This can vary misdee depending on the dose and duration of treatment.Shivering diarhoea nausea agitation and craving the morphine and inability to sleep.I had this after having morphine for only about 7-9 days so it happens quick gradual reduction is best.

well i guess after two years of morphione and morphine based drugs, do you think dh system should be clear after 5weeks or so?

his tremors are very bad today, and we are wondering if this may be connected as well.

Is he on tacrolimus? That can make tremors terrible it is the reason I couldn't continue with it But it could also be the withdrawal.Did he just stop dead?

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 02/10/2007 18:20

he was stopped dead on the morphione, wasnt weaned off it.

he is on tacro as well, but the tremors are getting worse even though he is on a lower dose than he started on.

Stopping dead is difficult after all that time It is why so many addicts relapse -they just can't bear it.His body has been deadened by the drug and is coming back to life so he will suffer shakes while it adjusts. How long has he been off?I think you should speak to his doctors When the tremors moved from just my hands and arms to my legs I stopped the tacrolimus because I couldn't walk properly. The medication is the biggest hurdle at the start but once thats right thinga get better.I think it was abit cruel to stop the morphine dead like that after all he's been through.

Hi LVOC - so sorry to hear about this.

Speak to your GP/consultant about chlonodine (sp?!), ds has been on it when his morphine has been weaned, as it is a morphine replacement and should help with withdrawl.

Also, was Peter on IV morphine or ora-morph?

It must be awful for Peter. I have heard that they don't treat adults as well as paeds, which is so wrong. I think they believe that adults should just put up and shut.
