Ingrowing toenail

Jenasaurus · 08/08/2020 09:12

I am having a problem with one of my toe nails, it seems harder and thicker than the others and its impossible to cut with normal chiropody scissors, I have tried having a long soak in the bath to soften it but its still too hard to cut, anyone got any tips of a way I can cut it as it looks like it may end up ingrowing if I am not careful. Is there a cream or anything that will make it softer?

Have you tried filing it with a tough emery board instead?

Soak your feet
Cut nails straight across
Ensure edge of nail does not dig in- lift gently and put small amount of tissue paper under it (to create gap between skin and nail)
If sore, soak in salty water
Make an appointment with GP to get chiropody appointment or make private appointment with chiropodist.

You have my sympathy as they are so sore Sad

Are your chiropody scissors standard ones? You can order ones for thick toenails that are similar to plies and you can get a lot of force behind them.
