I knew something wasn’t right with me, I have had an awful discharge for months, pain during inter course, spotting between periods. And I’m having to pee a LOT more than I ever did. Sometimes getting up 5/6 times a night.
The nurse instantly said she would do the smear then need to get a GP to have a look because my cervix was very inflamed and angry.
The GP took a quick look and said she would need to do me an urgent referral to colposcopy and they labelled the smear as urgent.
Just feeling a bit teary now and don’t want to tell my DH because he’s busy with work at the minute. I should have went to the GP sooner and I planned to, then Xmas, new year, work then lockdown etc etc.
Feeling like I’ve let myself down.

It's been a worrying few months for everyone with COVID. Don't be hard on yourself. You've done the best thing getting checked out and sounds like the dr and nurse are taking it very seriously. I have no experience in this but hope someone will be here soon to offer more advice on it.

Bluewavescrashing · 07/08/2020 13:03

Hand hold for you OP. Be kind to yourself x

BabyMoonPie · 07/08/2020 13:03

There's no point beating yourself up - you can't change the past. You've started the investigation process and that's good. Talk to your other half - chances are you'll be behaving differently and he'll know something is wrong. A big hug and I hope the cause of the problem is easily treated

FourPlasticRings · 07/08/2020 13:06

At least you went for the smear, OP. And it might not be what you think it is, but at least they're investigating now.

Cactus99 · 07/08/2020 13:14

You've been to the doctor now, so feel proud of yourself for doing something difficult. Tell your DH today, and then you can face anything that happens together.

Captainrachy · 07/08/2020 18:07

Defintely talk to him. It will do you good to get it off your chest. I’m in a similar situation with similar symptoms and my smear is on Monday. I am in bits and so anxious about the outcome. Talking to my DH has helped immensely, but it’s so hard to accept when things are out of your control. I hope your results don’t take too long to come through

I talked to my hubby last night so feel better for it, and he’s super supportive. He’s a very calm person so I’m feeling ok about it.
Still can’t stop googling though!
They must suspect cancer if they’ve made me the urgent referral to colposcopy. But maybe not.

It may not be that they suspect cancer, more so they want to rule it out.

It's great that your DH is supportive, keep talking to him (and on here) as much as you need to.

I appreciate this is a scary time for you so remember to be kind to yourself. Also note, most referrals to investigate or rule out C turn out to be something else completely.

Sending strength and best wishes OP Flowers
