Coeliac test results - waiting time.

Really simple question, how long do you wait for these results.

My son had bloods 11 days ago on Friday. Tuesday, a week ago we had a call. His FBC, ferritin and B12 were abnormal. He’s now on two lots of tablets. They said they had requested a coeliac test from existing blood and a stool sample. Neither of these are back yet, I was wondering how long the normal wait is.

I had a celiac blood test at the start of July and I got the results within 48 hrs.

I'm sure you know this but just in case...

Keep him eating plenty of gluten in bread, pasta etc. He will need this for a gastroscopy, to show the damage it is causing. You can't get a diagnosis without it.

Sometimes they take ages sometimes they are back in a few days. I'm a GP and have noticed this. I think they run the test in batches as it's quicker so it depends where in the cycle you are.
