Hi all, after a bit of advice. I had a bite on Friday which became really swollen so i went to the out of hours doctors Saturday and he gave me antibiotics. I thought I was improving but the bite sight is actually turning black. Has any one else had this?

Are you able to post a picture? X

I had this from a spider bite a few years ago. It ended up about the diameter of a tennis ball but cleared up okay and didn't leave a mark.

Is there a black vein going from the bite?

Notgettinganyyounger23 · 03/08/2020 21:38

You can't really tell from this pic, could it just be bruised from the bite

That could be cellulitis ...

Draw around the redness, if it spreads go back immediately. How are you feeling in yourself? Any fever, chills, nausea etc.?

Notgettinganyyounger23 · 03/08/2020 21:56

I felt sick Saturday but I've been taking the antibiotics religiously, maybe they've not had chance to take full affect? Well it get worse before it gets better

Definitely do what meow1989 suggested. You might need some stronger antibiotics (intravenously), can you move your ankle?

Nacreous · 03/08/2020 22:09

Agreed you need to draw round and keep an eye. If it's cellulitis it sometimes needs IV antibiotics to clear it up.

Keep an eye for tracking lines that spread out from it as well.

When I had something similar, doctor said to do the above, as it happened after going black it sort of sunk into a hole and then went away so I never had to, but you don't want to mess around with cellulitis if the antibiotics aren't fixing it.

Ankle moves fine yes. Ok will do as suggested
