Fasting glucose test - can I drink anything?

I should have asked the GP but didn't think about it at the time. Has anyone had a fasting glucose test - can I drink water (I'm assuming I can? - but not a milky, sugary coffee?!). The test's at 8.50am so I'll just about cope...

i only had to fast from midnight the day before the test

I was told to fast from 9 pm the night before -- and only small sips of water, no other drinks.

You're meant to fast for 12 hours! I had a fasting blood sugar done this spring, and the nurse confirmed, it's meant to be 12 hours with nothing other than water.

Oh OK then... It's on Wednesday morning so I haven't done it wrong (yet)!

Ive got one of these coming up on the 23rd and it says on the letter nothing to eat or drink from midnight before the test. Good luck hope it turns out well

You absolutely can have water. I'm pretty sure herbal tea (no milk! no sugar!) is ok, too, as it has no calories. But anything with any sort of, you know, nourishment, is completely out.

I think I'd rather dehydrate than drink herbal teas..! Will be stoic, drink some water and take some toast to eat as soon as I've had it!
