My poor aching bumhole - sorry TMI

Apologies for TMI but it's getting me down and having just inspected with a mirror it looks very odd down there.

I think I have piles but not sure (had a few episodes of fresh red blood on wiping after opening bowels on and off for a while now). GP prescribed Anusol suppositories over the phone but they've not really helped though bleeding has cleared up. Yesterday though it was (sorry!) mucousy and a bit pink too on wiping.

The whole area really aches - is that normal? - and almost spasming. Feels like something inside is trying to come out Shock.

Think I need to go back to GP don't I? Any other self-care I can do in meantime? Ice does provide a bit short term relief but I cannot have ice packs shoved between my legs for hours.

I am going through the same right now. I have had pain in my bum cheeks and the spasm feeling. It hurts to sit on a chair and I have felt before when lying in bed like it is bulging out.

I contacted my drs after using Anusol cream and have been prescribed scheriproct ointment and suppositories. I started these on Friday and think they are improving but not as quickly as I would like. My drs have told me to contact them if not better after 7 days of using these.

ouchmypoorbum · 03/08/2020 13:18

Thank you for replying and sorry to hear you're going through the same. Yes I've got pain in buttcheeks and sitting. Literally a pain in the arse!

Waiting for a call back from my GP. I'll ask her about scheriproct.

Ouch! It could be haemorrhoids as your suspect, which does feel like something bulging and coming out and far more likely. Sometimes they can be pushed back in also. BUT, it could possibly be a rectal prolapse, where the ligaments are loose and part of the bowel starts to come out. Symptoms are generally similar with bleeding, pain and bulging. If you google these things, they will always show you the worse case scenarios though! Have you had an faecal incontinence?

Hopefully a different cream might help, but if not, I'd insist on a physical examination to check. Best of luck x

ouchmypoorbum · 03/08/2020 13:35

Elouera no, no incontinence but definitely more urgency recently. I have been diagnosed with pelvic organ prolapse but not at a stage that there was an imminent need for surgery. I suspect even if it's not that, it's probably not helping the situation.

Have a google of anal fissures. They hurt for hours after pooing making all the muscles tight and sore.

AOSmom · 03/08/2020 13:45

Could maybe be an Anal Fissure? I have had it, causes small pits of blood on the loo roll. Can be itchy have you tried Sudo cream? I found that helped a lot!

ouchmypoorbum · 03/08/2020 13:47

I wondered if it might be a fissure too maybe even alongside the haemorrhoids. Lucky me!Sudocrem, good idea.

I find Tesco’s own cream better. Try and get a bit inside too.
Mine are usually itchy, but sometimes feel like a dragging sensation.
They seem worse in the heat for some reason.

ouchmypoorbum · 03/08/2020 16:11

Spoken to GP and she's asked me to come in tomorrow. Hoping I'll have a better idea what's going on once she's had a look.

OP posts:
pinky987 · 03/08/2020 16:14

That’s good, let us know how you get on.

MyBeloved · 03/08/2020 22:31

Sounds like a fissure. There are creams and ointments. Sit in a shallow salt bath several times a day and don't allow yourself to get constipated. Good luck.

ouchmypoorbum · 04/08/2020 12:29

Just to update: Seen by GP who confirmed there are still haemorrhoids plus some inflammation to anal sphincter.

I've been given something stronger to treat the haemorrhoids but she wants to do bloods, a stool sample and referral to outpatients clinic just to tick all the boxes.

pinky987 · 04/08/2020 13:08

That’s good that you are frying properly checked out. Hopefully the new treatment helps.

pinky987 · 04/08/2020 13:08

Getting not frying

ouchmypoorbum · 04/08/2020 13:17

Thanks @pinky987

Is the scheriproct helping yet?

OP posts:
pinky987 · 04/08/2020 13:33

I think it is helping, however I have had to do work today and sitting at my dining table is hurting my bottom. I have been told to use the scheriproct for 7 days which finishes Thursday so think I will contact drs if doesn’t feel right still by then. I was thinking of ringing to try to get seen earlier but then thought they would probably tell me to wait for treatment to finish as only a couple of days.

Has your dr told you what the blood and stool tests are looking for?

ouchmypoorbum · 04/08/2020 18:04

@pinky987 I'd definitely follow up. I suspect you'll be offered similar to me.

Bloods will be to see if I'm anaemic I'm guessing (though I didn't actually ask) and stool to see if traces of any blood in that which might be coming from higher up in the bowel. All my bleeding so far has been fresh red which according to my GP is more reassuring/more likely associated with my haemorrhoids.

Bloods and stool sample were normal and new steroid suppository has helped, a lot. Got a telephone hospital appointment next week. I'm hoping they don't ask me to put on my phone cam so they can look Shock.

How are you @pinky987?

OP posts:
pinky987 · 12/08/2020 11:16

Hi @ouchmypoorbum it took about 5-6 days of the steroid suppositories and cream to feel better but now much improved thank you. Just keep making sure that when I go to the toilet I don’t bring them back again.

Glad all your tests have come back ok and your
Hospital phone call is quick. It is a relief when the tests come back fine

pinky987 · 16/08/2020 19:48

@ouchmypoorbum how are you doing now? My b is sore again as I had a poorly belly yesterday so has aggravated it again. I just keep feeling a sore sensation there all the time Sad

ouchmypoorbum · 18/08/2020 19:55

@pinky987 it's rubbish isn't it. Now I've stopped the steroid suppositories I'm almost back to square one. All feels very achy again in that whole area now.

OP posts:
pinky987 · 18/08/2020 20:39

@ouchmypoorbum yes that exactly how I feel. Have you had your telephone appointment yet?

ouchmypoorbum · 19/08/2020 10:06

Had it this morning. Consultant reassured me symptoms consistent with haemorrhoids, including the achy radiating pain which should resolve in time by itself. He wants me to have a flexible sigmoidoscopy but it's not needed urgently as my bloods/stool sample were normal.

OP posts:
pinky987 · 19/08/2020 10:37

I’m glad they reassured you that it sounded normal. Hopefully then it will get better itself before the appointment.

ouchmypoorbum · 30/11/2020 12:35

Thought I'd update:

Have continued to be in discomfort since August. Had my sigmoidoscopy last week. Nothing sinister was found and they banded 4 haemorrhoids there and then which were prolapsing. Feeling quite achy at the moment but am confident the treatment will sort them.

I know I've posted on your other thread @pinky987 but I hope you are doing okay now.
