Apologies for the manky polish 🙃
Fell over last night. Can't bend my toe at all. Can't put weight on it.

Is it a rest my foot job or do I need a dr?

My dd done the same (same toe) 2 weeks ago and bruised like that...took her to a&e it wasn't broken she just had to rest.
All cases are different but best get it checked out

MissNotMrs · 02/08/2020 18:53

😬 was hoping for confirmation to stay home

Hope your dd is all better now

You need an x ray. But I would say they will do nothing. I would strap it to the other toe and put something hard between them.

shittingthreeeyedraven · 02/08/2020 18:57

I’ve got a broken toe at the moment. Went to minor injuries as it was pointing sideways. They only x rayed it as the rest of my foot was bruised too so they wondered if it were broken further down too. They told me to strap it and crack on basically. I’d not bother going if it’s pointing in the right direction and it’s not a big toe

babycakes1010 · 02/08/2020 19:55

Yes my dd is fine now thankfully but would definitely get it checked out x

stressbucket1 · 02/08/2020 20:10

I would get that checked. Could be a metatarsal head fracture or involve your joint. You might end up with a long term injury if it's not managed properly.

ivegotthisyeah · 02/08/2020 20:20

Broke my little toe three weeks ago still can't walk on it properly. I went to urgent care they x rayed it and confirmed broken but they were worried it broken that bone that Wayne Rooney broke. Thankfully not. A lot of pain though and very frustrating! They strapped it up and told me to keep doing that until it heals

shittingthreeeyedraven · 02/08/2020 20:21

www.nhs.uk/conditions/broken-toe/ This is the NHS guidance page. Says it doesn’t matter if you’re not sure if it’s bruised/broken, rest, ice and elevate

Elouera · 02/08/2020 20:26

I agree- RICE (Rest, Ice, elevation) and buddy strap to a neighbouring toe for support. I wouldnt go to A&E, but a minor injuries unit instead. I'd ring beforehand though, as not all have X-ray facilities.

pinkbalconyrailing · 02/08/2020 20:30

can't tell from the outside. could well be.

you need an x-ray.

feet are pretty important, get it seen to as soon as possible.

Polkadotties · 02/08/2020 20:33

I wouldn’t bother with an X-ray, even if that shows it’s broken all the dr will do is strap it to the next one.
My 700kg horse stepped on my foot, I felt the bone go pop. After an X-ray I was told to strap it up, nothing further could be done

UncleBrynsPicasso · 02/08/2020 20:34

I walked into a heavy box in the dark DH had left on the landing (😐) and monumentally smashed my 4th toe, and it looked just like that. I heard and felt something crack. I didn’t get it checked out as we had I assumed they wouldn’t be able to do anything - thankfully in my case it seemed to heal itself but definitely get it looked at, I probably should have!

vjg13 · 02/08/2020 20:39

Would strap it to the next toe, take nurofen and put your foot up. I broke a toe and I could still feel pain for months afterwards then it suddenly stopped. I thought it would be better in 6 weeks!

MissNotMrs · 02/08/2020 20:47

Thanks for the replies. I keep getting cramp in my toes so I've had some paracetamol and raised my leg, will strap it up and see how I go 😊
