Left side abdominal pain - anyone else?

I’m suffering with horrific pain on my left side, just below my ribs. It started suddenly and been going on for 3 hours now. Tummy is a bit bloated. Not eaten gluten (coeliac) or dairy or sugar (these bloat me) apart from fruit.

Paracetamol and mebeverine isn’t touching it.

This isn’t new. I’ve seen a few GPs and had an ultrasound. Been going on for 4 years, coincidentally the same time I started the pill. I’m in my early 20s.

Doctors keep saying it’s IBS, but I know this pain isn’t normal. I feel like I’m going mad. Doctors look at me like I’m a silly young girl.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I’m obviously not looking for medical advice - just others’ experiences.

Thank you.

Have you considered splenic flexure syndrome. Can be painful.

@Sebw I’ve just looked into that and the symptoms do sound very familiar. I’ve ended up in A&E a couple of times due to the severe pain. Blood tests show I have elevated amylase levels and yet no further tests have been done.

I sometimes get pain on the left side, just under the rib cage, especially when I am fighting off a bug or when I am tired. In my case, it's to do with an enlarged spleen as I have a condition called Hereditary Spherocytosis.
