Just for the people who’ve had trouble with gallstones really. How often did you get an attack? Seems to vary greatly from few times a week, monthly, even just a couple over a couple years

I only had one major bout of pain. It was so so awful that I ate a very strictly very low fat diet for the 8 months I had to wait until my gallbladder was removed. I only got th a couple of grumbles during that time, when I accidentally ate something slightly over my fat limit.

Before I was finally diagnosed it was always uncomfortable with strong pain very week to 10 days and excruciating pain monthly. When they finally worked out I didn’t have IBS and it wasn’t connected to my women’s problems then by regulating my diet I only had minor irritation until the operation.

I had 20 attacks in 12 weeks, ended up in A&E twice with the pain, and on strong painkillers and antibiotics when the gallbladder became infected. It was such a relief when it was removed.

I was diagnosed with gallstones ten years ago when having a scan for something else. I had never had any symptoms. I had one attack about seven years later and none since. I had another scan at the start of this year to check on something else and they noted that my gallbladder is almost completely full of stones but fortunately I haven't had any pain.

I had an attack once every 3 months or so for a year until it was removed. The last attack was so bad I threw up continuously for 48 hours and was ill for a week.

At the beginning it was about once every few weeks then it gradually increased to a couple of times a week. I had lots of stones and they were always escaping into my bile duct and giving me cholecystitis. I did find that if I ate fatty foods it was worse. I had my gall bladder out and this left me with other stomach problems but nothing as bad as the gall bladder pain.

Helll. Sorry to hear you’ve all had problems with your gallbladder. I’ve had my first attack this weekend and I’m sticking to a low fat diet to help. Can you give me some ideas of the foods you ate on a low fat diet and roughly how many grams of fat do I want to avoid succeeding? Any help is appreciated

For me it was 1 month on the dot, same date each month for about 4-5 months where I'd have immense pain around my side and my chest and needed 999 ringing every time to give me morphine and run more tests. Till I found out I have an infection in the gallstones which was causing that, I'm on antibiotics to treat that and I'm waiting for my operation. Haven't had an attack since May.
