Swollen feet and legs

Currently in Devon with no phone access. Drove down here on Saturday after which both legs below knee and both feet became swollen. Had it happen before and resolved that day each time. Now it's end Wednesday, legs stopped being swollen after wetsuit but both feet are huge, red shiny with blue tinges. Bad back pain around spine but think not linked as on boat in rough seas and back kept crashing into boat seat.

Emailed home doctor and said oedema due to car journey and should self resolve with elevated feet but small possibility it's DVT and if think is go to A&E for tests. Said don't wear anything right.

Worried as journey back on Tuesday and another journey on Friday. Don't really want to go to A&E though and spoil everyone's holiday. Anyone had this?

I have this all the time. Due to bed by fat and having bad circulation. Sitting down and heat make it worse. As your GP says put your feet up. I definitely wouldn't go to a&e

How long were you in the car?

I get elephant feet if I sit for long periods. Elevate and light exercise the next day makes it go away. I'm borderline overweight.

Thanks very much. I kept my feet elevated all night for second night in a row, previous night did nothing, last night has gone down a lot. Skin is very red especially round both ankles but hopefully will clear. I took aspirin yesterday 3 times as in lots of pain from back and doctor I emailed (no phone here) said no ibruprofen. Not overweight but inactive before trip due to health issues.

Was a long car journey, should have been 5 hours but lots of blocked roads, traffic jams, police blocks and took 8 hours or so. I have always had it clear in 24 hours before and back to normal skin but as in 2 legs didn't look live DVT either. It started an hour or so into journey but had before so not concerned then.

Maybe need to wear flight socks for car back, but doctor told me nothing tight until normal. Supposed to be in wetsuit again on Friday. My daughter isn't helping I have had 5Grin days of pointing at my feet saying you need to make a will. Grin
