Found lump inside

I can feel a walnut sized, maybe golf ball sized lump inside me. It didn't stop a tampon going in but certainly blocked it a bit.

I've called gp as needed to book a smear anyway but they won't do the smear until my period has finished and said will check lump at same time but I can't book that now until next week.

Does anyone have any experience of what it could be and should I push for a quicker appointment?

No pain or other symptoms.

If you can feel it then it could be a cyst/ bartholan cyst where the gland is infected. They are sometimes painful sometimes not. They might burst on their own, or need surgical removal. When did you first notice it?

Only the day before yesterday when my period started and needed a tampon. I don't always use them so I'm not sure how long it's been there for.

Where is the lump? Is it still there? Painful? Stupid questions - also it's common to feel poo on the back wall of the vagina as it's adjacent to your rectum so checked it's not moved.

Cysts can come in all of a sudden. I should have said antibiotics can often shift them too if it's not painful. I don't think you need to ask for an earlier appointment. It's too low down for anything cervical related.

Thanks for all responses!

It's still there, not moved. I can feel it against the side wall (my left side). Feels quite fleshy but firm. Not painful at all. I can only touch the nearest side if that makes sense so a little way back.

You sure it's not your cervix?

Could also be a polyps which is a benign lump of cells. Keep an eye on it and if you see a creamy pinkish discharge then it likely was a cyst that's burst. It might get bigger and become painful in which case go to GP sooner. I guess you'll be seen in a couple of weeks anyway for smear?
