Tooth Extraction and Proprananol

I need a molar extracting later this week and I am petrified.
If there are any dentists on here I am wondering if they could advise whether it would be okay to take some proprananol just to take the edge off my nerves and actually get me in the dentist chair.
I have read about the risk of dry socket following extraction and obviously would not want to take anything that would prevent the blood clotting in the extraction site.
I cannot ask the dentist as he is not back in the surger until the day of my visit.

Propranolol will prevent physical symptoms of anxiety (sweating, trembling) but it will not stop you feeling anxious.
Valium or something similar would prevent you feeling anxious.

GenevaMaybe, thank you.
I have used it previously for stressful situations and it does seem to calm me down a lot.
More than anything I am wondering if it will effect the blood clotting.
I have to wait until Friday and I am already becoming stressed. I hate dentists.
