Stretch marks EVERYWHERE

I am 26, never been pregnant.

I have put on about 4 stone over the past 5 years (from 9 to 13). I've just began to address this and have so far lost half a stone.

At the beginning of the year I noticed stretch marks at the tops of my thighs. Last night I realised they are protruding further down and around my legs, I also have have them on my hips, biceps and the tops of my boobs- it feels like everyday there are more!!

Will they keep getting worse even if I'm losing weight?? Is there ANYTHING I can do to lessen their appearance? They are red/purple at the moment.

I suffer from stretch marks terribly too, and also got them everywhere after weight gain. Unfortunately I seemed to notice them more when I was losing weight rather than when I was gaining. If it had been the other way around I may not have gained as much Sad

I'll be honest and say i've never committed long term to doing anything about getting rid of them. I tried in the beginning, but with them being everywhere it became so laborious and costly. I had bio oil (and the asda own brand of this) recommended to me at the time, but I never noticed enough of a difference to stick with it. I just felt oily and horrible twice a day.

If they aren't too deep, they do tend to fade quite well on their own.

This is what has happened- it feels like they are becoming more noticeable as I'm losing weight.

Trying not to get too down about it as I know lots of women have them but it's just yet another thing to dislike about my body. Plus a permanent reminder of how I let myself go Sad

What colour are they? (:

It's difficult not to feel down about it and I completely get it. I often feel the same way. There were many points where I thought, well if I have the stretch marks anyway then what's the point losing weight as i'll still look and feel bad afterwards anyway. It became a bit of a vicious circle.

Then when I did lose weight, the initial boost was tainted by feeling like I was still noticing more stretch marks.

Acceptance that the damage is already done (so to speak) does come with time, but it can be a long process when you're forever telling yourself "If only". If only i'd sorted myself out sooner.

Best of luck with your weight loss OP, try not to let it get you down.

Apparently I'm the purples ones can go. Putting bio oil in the bath rather than applying directly to skin can help. Also applying cocoa butter, Palmers is supposed to be the best but has to be consistent like twice a day for weeks. Smells lovely so that's good.

Well done on your weight loss.
The purple ones will fade to silvery white eventually. I would imagine most women have stretch marks of some sort on their body. Despite what social media would have you believe.
