Any bright ideas - neck ache (muscle) and head ache

I've taken paracetamol and ibuprofen, rubbed on some deep heat style stuff... not a lot of difference.

If I have a bath now then the taps will wake up DS (off colour and sleeping very light).

I am exhausted but can't see me being able to lay down without it really hurting.

Anything else I can do??

Have you got anything cool you can put across your head. I sometimes find if i've got a really bad headche, that that can work?

Flamesparrow · 30/09/2007 22:28

Oooh I might have one of those cooling strip thingies somewhere.

I've had a slight twinge to my neck all day, and the headache and its suddenly changed to "argh can't turn" and pounding head!

I'm guessing the headache is caused by the neck ache. Have you injured your neck?

Have you tried laying on your bed without a pillow? It may not be so painful.

SlightlyMadSweden · 30/09/2007 22:30

Sounds like what I had about 2-3weeks ago...turned into a horrific viraly thing...I hope this isn't the start of it for you....if it is stock up on paracetamol and ibuprofen - you will need it.

Flamesparrow · 30/09/2007 22:31

I hurt my neck last Monday, but nothing since then

I'll go up and try laying flat with something cool on my head (can't find the strip!) - hopefully exhaustion will take over and I will be capable of moving in the morning, if not we'll be walking to school!

Oh don't say that SMS - lots of work to do, all my paperwork, and my granddad most likely to die tomorrow

flame, it could be due to stress and tension; you've got a lot going on at the moment. Lots of fluids and rest and try not to worry about stuff

Sorry about your grandad

coleyboy · 30/09/2007 22:35

So sorry to hear about your gd. Do you think it is to do with stress/upset?

If possible get an early night and be kind to yourself xx

Flamesparrow · 30/09/2007 22:35

No tiger balm, no idea about the coming down with something - had a 2 day cold last week, DS has the sh*ts, DH isn't right (or he says he isn't, he could just be taking advantage of DS being ill)

I dunno.

Will go to bed, feeling sick with tiredness now so sleep shouldn't be too much of a problem

Daisy - I'm well known for my non-worrying, you're probably starting to notice that

It probably is just stress

OP posts:
SlightlyMadSweden · 30/09/2007 22:38

It'll probably be stress or your neck injury....

Sorry about your gd...

Go to the chemist and get some Syndol - it is strong pain relief plus a muscle relaxant. You can buy it over the counter without a prescription.

If you're still in pain after taking a couple of doses of this I'd suggest going to see an osteopath. You may have put your neck/upper spine out of alignment a little, and your muscles are spasming trying to compensate for this.

Hope your day isn't too bad.

Flamesparrow · 01/10/2007 08:29

I can only take syndol if DH is well enough to look after the children (it wipes me out) - I'll get some for tonight assuming he is back to normal

When I had neck pain I searched online and found a site selling those memory pillow. I bought a pair and it turns out to be the best pillows for neck pain I have tried.
Definitely recommended.
