Is bleeding normal with diarrhea?

Sorry for the TMI. I've also name changed as I don't really want this linked to my usual name.

Since yesterday afternoon I have been having horrendous abdominal cramps, the kind you get when you've got the runs but nothing was happening, just cramps. I felt really exhausted too so went to bed early but was awake most of the night running back and forth to the loo! Blush
This morning I felt a bit better so thought perhaps it was just my IBS playing up although I haven't had a flare up in a long time.
But by midday I had a temperature and the chills and felt exhausted and everything I drank/ ate went straight through me so I took myself off to bed thinking I must have a tummy bug or food poisoning.
Sleeping is really difficult as my body aches and every sip to drink causes cramping in my abdomen/gut.
I've now noticed I've started bleeding from my back passage too. Blush
I have terrible health anxiety at the minute as a family member has had a horrific time with IBD and has had major surgery recently.
I'm sure it's just a stomach upset and I'm being overly anxious because of my anxiety but I needed to ask to put my mind at ease. I'm afraid to ring the doctor and potentially waste their time as it's probably a simple stomach bug.
I will be isolating now because of the temperature though. Thanks in advance.

Is it red blood? Red blood is usually 'okay' i think... wny chance you may have been wiping and its irritated a bit and now you're bleeding everytime you wipe or is it in the toilet? Hope you feel better soon!

Hope you feel better soon. I'd try not to worry too much about it, if speaking to your go would ease your anxiety do it. Here is the link to NHS advice page www.nhs.uk/conditions/bleeding-from-the-bottom-rectal-bleeding/

Yes, red blood on paper and some in toilet bowl. I'm hoping it is just irritation due to the thousand trips to the loo but at the moment I have quite bad health anxiety and just work myself up into a state so sometimes need to talk with voices of reason! Thank you for replying.

@GasMonkeyGasMonkey i'd honestly just put it down to irritation then, if you're constantly going and wiping! If it continues after your upset stomach then i'd probably just arrange an appointment with your gp

Sounds like an anal fissure which is a small tear on the anus, which you can get anytime. Bright red blood is a 'good' sign. Get well soon x

You're probably right. I haven't been unwell in a long time so I think that affects me and makes me anxious. I also forgot that diarrhoea cramps can almost be as painful as contractions!Shock
