Hi,
6 weeks ago I realised I had a large bump behind my ear in the crease where your ear joins your head. Asked dh to look at it and he said it was a very large pimple with a head. I'm prone to body acne, I get pimples on my thighs, buttocks, shoulders etc. Overnight it burst (some blood, mostly pus) got DH to check it again he said it was much smaller and had a visible hole in it. The following morning after it had a tiny bit more pus dried in around it so I figured it had drained now and would heal up. I kind of forgot about it.
Then two days ago I had an itchy ear and when I scratched there it hurt, asked dh to look again he said it's the exact same thing there only it's turned purple and the hole is gone! So I went to the chemist and showed the pharmacist, he used the term "abscess", sold me some magnesium sulphate paste told me to use it for 3 nights and if no difference ring my GP.
Used the paste last night for first time and during work today the area has been stinging and itchy, I can't see it for myself so I have to wait til my dh can take a look, after work tonight he said it looks bigger and like a new head is forming. Why is it getting fucking bigger?
Tbh I've never had an abscess or boil etc before and I'm worried now about it getting infected and making me ill or needing medically removed (couldn't do it, I'd faint) can't understand why it hasn't healed in 6 weeks but hasn't caused me any pain til I scratched it! Surely a true abscess or boil would be painful?
In summary: anyone know about these things or had experience of it? And can give any advice? Thank you.
