Dandruff

Does anyone have tips for severe dandruff in an 11 Yr old? I wouldn't even necessarily call it dandruff, her scalp itself is flaky. Even as a baby she struggled with cradle cap and its been a problem on & off over the years. Wondering whether the things I tried for cradle cap would still work ie rubbing baby lotion into her scalp? Or coconut oil? Not sure how hard it would be to wash out though.

Do you have eczema or psoriasis in the family? If so it might need a doctor to prescribe a steroid mousse though your cradle crap remedies of super-moisturising the "plaques" before brushing out can help as long as you don't irritate the scalp.
If you're sure it's dandruff I put a loreal phyto-klear (SP?) pre wash masque on my DD and massaged it through before shampooing. Re-do it once a month.

@Menaimum Thankyou for your comments. My mum suffers from psoriasis, but it doesn't look the same. She isn't itchy or inflamed so I'm 99% sure it's dandruff. I will Google your recommended product, thankyou.

I used to have flaky scalp then started using the purple shampoo bar from lush and it’s been way better since then .

Nizoral shampoo from pharmacy once a week.

I have seborrheic dermatitis which is a skin condition that causes scaly patches , raised skin and stubborn dandruff. It often gets mistaken for psoriasis or eczema. I have it on my scalp, behind my ears and side of my face. Best treatment for the dandruff has been the Nizoral shampoo and the Body Shop Ginger conditioner.
